The middleweight division’s future looks to be shaping up nicely as Khamzat Chimaev takes the #3 slot in the rankings following his first-round submission over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. Despite his health troubles outside the Octagon, ‘Borz’ had a remarkable return in his last outing that defies Sean Strickland’s bid for a title bout rematch with champion Dricus du Plessis. Now if that outing wasn’t enough to prove his might, a new viral video surely proves why Chimaev is the most exciting fighter who deserves a title shot next.
In a video making the rounds on the internet, ‘Borz’ can be seen sparring with team Arman Tsarukyan’s Zalimkhan Yusupov. The session was part of the Hype Fighting reality show, and Khamzat Chimaev made sure he became the spotlight’s center. So how did he do it? By completely destroying his opponent on the mat for all the world to see.
Showing sheer strength, the 30-year-old casually threw his opponent around the Octagon while never leaving his neck out of his tight grip. And although the released clip is only a few seconds long, it is surely long enough to prove how dominant of a fighter Chimaev is. As for the ones who still doubt it, Robert Whittaker would love to explain it.
