Lucas Herbert, the recently turned LIV golfer, is currently leading the ISPS Handa Australian Open after the first round. The Australian golfer joined LIV Golf in 2024 after turning pro for almost 9 years. However, the 2024 season wasn’t ideal for the golfer, as he could not win any championships. He came close to the winner list with five top-10 finishes in 2024 but failed to get the title.

He won the 2023 ISPS Handa Championship but fell short of defending it by finishing 7th in 2024. This year would be a grand chance for him to get a head start on the season and redeem the title. To make sure he is not making any mistakes, The Gladiator has been using some unique clubs for his tournament, along with handmade grips to accompany his style of play.

With an average driving distance of 307 yards, the Australian golfer has managed to cover most of the course from the tee shot. To make it happen, he uses a TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver with 10.5 degrees of loft and True Temper Project X HZRDUS Smoke Green 70 6.5 TX shaft. The driver is ideal for players like Herbert, who prefers fast swing speed. The clubs offer a lower spin and lower launch.

To reach the greens, he uses 3-wood and 5-wood TaylorMade Qi10 Tour with 13.5 degrees and 18 degrees loft, respectively. For the Hybrid as well, Herbert uses the TaylorMade Qi10 Tour but with 19.5 degrees of loft. Even the top PGA Tour players are currently using the Qi10s in their bags, justifying why it is a great option for fellow golfers as well. The versatility and accuracy of the club offer great shot precision.

As per the stats of LIV Golf, Herbert manages to hit the fairways 51% of the time. However, if stuck in an awkward position at the bunker or rough, he prefers to use the irons of TaylorMade. He uses iron 4 model P770 UDI and iron 6-9 P7TW.

Lucas Herbert’s preference for the greens

With an average of 4.4 birdies and 0.13 eagles, the golfer is aiming to move up on the list with better stats. He is currently 8th on the list for birdies average. To make it better with the 2025 season, he is using the Taylor-made MG4 wedge with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft. The MG4 is considered a great option to deliver longer chips and consistent full-shot flights.
