The winter holidays have just kicked off with Thanksgiving and 2024 is already breaking records. “This will be the busiest Thanksgiving ever in terms of air travel,” TSA Administrator David Pekoske told the New York Post. Pekoske also assured that the government agency is ready to handle 18 million Americans taking to the skies. But, Simone Biles is not taking ANY chances…

Currently in a long-distance marriage with Jonathan Owens for the majority of 2024—owing to her husband’s busy NFL schedule and her Gold Over America Tour obligations—the Paris Olympics triple gold medalist didn’t want to miss the chance to visit the Chicago Bears safety. Because, as we all know, being “a good wife, good daughter, [and a] good friend,” is of utmost importance to the 27-year-old just like being a top athlete.

Elaborating on the mindset, in a conversation with Olympics.com, she had said last year, “People think if you’re a wife, you can’t be a professional athlete, you can’t be a gymnast, you can’t do whatever,” Biles told us. “And I came to the realization, like, yeah, I can still be a wife and be out there.” But that’s easier said than done, especially when the love of your life is over a 1,000 miles away from you.

So, to “cherish the moments that we get together”, in Biles’ own words, this Thanksgiving in an interview to Us Weekly, “I’ll fly up in the morning and fly right back, just so we can still spend Thanksgiving together… Holidays are revolving around sports right now, especially in the football world with them sometimes playing…” To pull off the plan, though, Simone Biles will be taking a rather expensive route…

So what did she do to overcome the challenge of flying on the busiest Thanksgiving ever? Well, she had the option of choosing private.

Unlike the average flyer, the 30-time world championship medalist has the luxury of shelling out a cool $10,000 to charter a private jet. In fact, her go-to private airline service, Amalfi Jet, directly endorses the athlete as a part of their brand image. “With Amalfi Jets, Simone Biles experiences the utmost in comfort, convenience, and efficiency…”

“Simone Biles’s choice to fly private with Amalfi Jets highlights the numerous advantages of private jet travel for high-profile individuals. The flexibility, privacy, comfort, and security offered by private jets are essential for maintaining a demanding schedule and delivering top-tier performances,” reads the official website.

The company also helped us narrow down the $10,000. “Los Angeles to Las Vegas: A short trip on a light jet might cost around $6,000 to $10,000 round-trip,” revealed the website. Considering the fight time from Texas to Detroit is a little longer than LA to Vegas, it is safe to say the figure is far closer to $10,000, if not more.

What’s your perspective on:

Is spending $10,000 on a private jet for love a romantic gesture or an extravagance?

Having said that, this is not the only highlight of her Thanksgiving weekend. Just like the affectionate person Biles is, she’ll also be opening her doors for friends so that they don’t miss their family.

Talking about how some of Owens’ teammates will be joining the couple, the Olympian further revealed in the interview, “We’ll just have a chef come and cook…I think some of his teammates will come through and grab a plate, especially if they don’t have family in the area. It is a little bit more difficult, but it is kind of nice that we can just relax.”

Notably, the Chicago Bears have a game scheduled against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day (12:30 pm ET kickoff in the Motor City). And by the time the hungry Bears arrive home, the chef “already be at the house cooking”.

What’s evidently clear is no amount is high enough when it comes to Mr. and Mrs. Owens spending their hard-earned time together. That’s because most of the time they show up to support one another from the stands, barely getting to spend time in private.

How Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens take every opportunity

During the first half of the year, Simone Biles could barely find time to breathe while preparing for the Olympics. While Jonathan Owens did travel to Paris to see his wife earn her redemption, the athlete village restrictions kept the couple apart. Then came the NFL regular season and the Gold Over America Tour. However, despite this busy schedule, the couple has taken every opportunity to meet.

In September, Simone Biles attended the Chicago Bears vs. L.A. Rams game despite her GOAT duties. Her husband responded in kind. The couple also come up with special gestures to show their love and support for one another. After getting in trouble with Chicago fans for wearing a Packers jacket to a Bears game earlier in the season, Biles recently flaunted her new custom-made one.

The Olympian arrived at the Bears vs. Packers game on Nov. 17 wearing an orange and gray custom jacket. Meanwhile, Jonathan Owens came up with his own signature celebration to honor his wife. After forcing a fumble, Owens celebrated by raising his arms, just like Biles does at the end of every gymnastics routine.
