The $800 million media house owns Billboard, an Instagram account (17.1 million followers) that pertains to the music industry. When Billboard announced its list of ‘Greatest Pop Artists of the 21st Century’, Swift secured the second position on the list. Cool, right? But people’s sentiments got hurt when their congratulatory video included the singer-songwriter’s nude wax statue.
After facing serious repercussions from Swift’s fans, Billboard removed that clip from the video. In their apology note, Billboard said, “We are deeply sorry to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers that in a video celebrating Swift’s achievements, we included a clip that falsely depicts her. We have removed the clip from our video and sincerely regret the harm we caused with this error.”
Alright. But do you know what’s the clash between both the music stars that led to such a peak?
What’s the quarrel between Taylor Swift and Kanye West?
Reportedly, West was having a feud with Swift, which started with an award ceremony where Taylor was delivering a speech after receiving an award. But Kanye interrupted her, saying, “I’m really happy for you; I’m going to let you finish. But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time”. You may be aware of this, right?
But what happened after that 2009 MTV Video Music Award is Swift got embarrassed and took a jab at West in her song ‘Innocent’. However, following her video, Kanye released ‘Famous’ depicting the global superstar unclothed. Kanye West has used Taylor Swift’s wax statue in a song named ‘Famous’. Starting in 2009, the flames of a spat between the two superstars have gone too far.

After Ellen DeGeneres asked Kanye why that incident with Swift happened, West said, “I feel in some ways I’m a soldier of culture. And I realize no one wants that to be my job. I’ll never go onstage again, and I’ll never sit at an awards show again, but will I feel conflicted about things that meant something to the culture that constantly get denied for years and years and years? I’m sorry, I will. I cannot lie about it to sell records.” Okay. But what Swift has said about the issue with the star artist?

Taylor Swift, when asked about West’s apology following the 2009 award show beef, said, “Kanye did call me and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology. The support I got from other artists and the fans, and so many people sticking up for me, that’s what got me to the place where I could accept that apology. And I’m just very thankful that everyone showed me so much love.”
After Billboard’s apology, we can surely say they may have closed the gates of criticism, but can’t certainly admit the beef between the Chiefs TE Kelce’s girlfriend and Kanye West is over.
