Seeing the Bears down by 16 points before the first half must have got their fans rattled at home. But their kicker, Cairo Santos, isn’t ready to give up yet. Although he was yet to get an opportunity at a field goal, the Bears kicker wanted to get some reps in before the second half.
The cameras at Ford Field caught Cairo Santos jumping on the field while singer Shaboozey performed at half-time. Yes, Santos didn’t care about the half-time show on Thanksgiving and instead utilised that time to practice. While the fans in Detroit must have loved their team, and Shaboozey putting up a show at their home, Santos’ gesture could have sent some positive signals back in Chicago.
At least he showcased some fighting spirit instead of just sitting around in the locker room. Although Santos’ actions could be a big statement for the Bears, the half-time belonged to Shaboozey, who had football ambitions growing up.

You could say getting the opportunity to perform on Thanksgiving was his way to pay homage to his gridiron roots. Well, he was an up-and-coming football prodigy back in Gar-Field Senior High School. He even went on to reveal the story in an interview with 102.7 KIISFM, “Playing football in high school as a freshman, you come in and you’re kind of the guy that has to prove themselves. Any my coach had seen my last name, and he was like Shaboozey wrote it on a helmet—like exactly how it’s spelt as my artist name—and smacked it on my helmet.” This kickstarted the musical career that Shaboozey has found himself in.

While he went on to flourish in his journey beyond the gridiron, this was a moment for him to remember what could have been as a footballer. But for the Bears, it was yet another embarrassing first half whose No.1 overall struggled to get going.
Caleb Williams’ first-half struggles on Thanksgiving sums up Bears’ season
If you somehow didn’t catch Shaboozey’s live show in Detroit, all we can say is that he was on the field for longer than the Bears’ offense. Their rookie QB Caleb Williams had a pass completion rate of just 38.5% in the first half. And he threw for only 34 yards while the Bears made way for Shaboozey to take the field.

It was a complete contrast to the Bears’ new OC Thomas Brown’s thoughts on Williams just ahead of the game, “That’s a rookie quarterback who. in my opinion, hasn’t even scratched the surface of how good he can be. And it’s my job, my focus, to continue to try to find ways to make him the best he can be.” But for now, it seems like Brown isn’t even close to unlocking Williams’ potential. Because, like he said, Williams didn’t even scratch the surface properly in Detroit.
At least in the first half, but in the second half, it was a completely different picture. As Williams finished his Thanksgiving scoring 3TDs for 256 yards. Although the Bears tried to rally a final-quarter comeback through two TDs, it still wasn’t enough. Detroit managed to hold on while extending their record to 11-1 for the season. As for the Bears, they are now on a losing streak of 6 games. And with that, their hopes of making the playoffs went down the drain in Downtown Detroit.
