After months of delay, the TGL is finally scheduled to launch in 2025. Ahead of the grand inception, the New York Golf Club, featuring Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Cameron Young appeared on the Tonight Show featuring Jimmy Fallon as a part of promotions. They became involved in a fun conversation with one member of an investor group supporting their club. Well, according to Fallon, they are indeed the ‘best-looking team out there.’

Rickie Fowler’s fashion sense has always been the talk of the golf world. Be it his rather uncanny looks or Michelle Wie West declaring him the reason behind golf looks cool, his charm is undeniable. This was one reason behind Fallon’s enthusiasm to partner with him. Well, a few hours after the episode aired, it went completely viral all over the Internet.

PGA Tour took to their official Instagram account collaborated with the official page of New York Golf Club and shared snippets from behind the scenes of the episode. The first picture had Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Fallon, and Matt Fitzpatrick and said, “Behind the scenes in the Big Apple.”

The Golf Community calls Jimmy Fallon lame

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jimmy Fallon ruining golf's authenticity, or is he bringing much-needed entertainment to the sport?

Have an interesting take?

Jimmy Fallon has faced criticism from golf fans primarily because of his involvement in made-for-TV golf events. Some perceived these segments as forced or overly commercialized. One notable instance came during his participation in the Cardigan Classic, a celebrity golf challenge against DJ Khaled. Critics argued that events like this detract from the sport’s authenticity and highlight a growing trend of prioritizing entertainment over meaningful competition.

Now, seeing some of the greatest players on the Tour mingle with the talk show host left the fans all the more frustrated. They left comments like, “They all prob can’t stand that dude either. Jimmy Fallon is a wh*ck job” and “Stay away from that guy. You brill be judged by the company you keep.”

The golf world has recorded a serious ruckus for the past two years. This is because of the ongoing divide in the golf world because of the rift between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. A merger was announced in July 2023, and the deadline for the agreement was December 31, 2023. A year has passed since the deadline and no further update has surfaced. While Fallon is often seen as being involved in the golf community, he has not shared his two cents on the issue that matters. Taking to this, one of them even commented, “Fallon is unpopular where golf matters!!”

Simulator golf is considered “lame” by golf fans because it lacks the authenticity of playing outdoors, such as navigating natural terrain and weather. Some also feel it overemphasizes data and technology, reducing the sport’s artistic appeal. One user conveyed this sentiment by writing, “The only thing that is lamer than simulator golf, is Jimmy Fallon.”

While another user, simply frustrated with the current golf dynamics, and its lack of entertainment, wrote, “Imagine if the PGA tour invested in all of their players….we would see more golf on 📺”.
