Conor McGregor‘s recent civil lawsuit has made so many rounds across various mediums of mass media, bringing the whole MMA community into a state of shock. He’s already suffered losses in his businesses with major deals and partnerships falling off. However, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier seems to believe that these legal problems can cause more trouble in the long run.
From Proper 12 whiskey getting removed from stores to the sale of Conor McGregor’s ‘Hitman 3’ video game’s exclusive downloadable content coming to a screeching halt, Conor McGregor, according to Daniel Cormier, is in a very “unfortunate” situation. The light heavyweight/heavyweight legend believes these problems not only tainted the Irishman’s image but also raised questions about the sport of MMA itself, and it’s not something that people might forget easily.
“It’s unfortunate because this is one of the biggest stars that this sport has ever seen. We have never seen anything like Conor McGregor in mixed martial arts,” Daniel Cormier stated on his YouTube channel. “For a guy of that stature to come from our sport and be tied to something as bad as this, it really does suck. There are going to be some long-term effects from this.”

Cormier didn’t pick any sides, but he did mention that such lawsuits are often a recurring situation with athletes. Not just in combat sports, but in other sports as well, athletes are often in everybody’s sights for their fame and financial freedom.
“When I hear things like this, sometimes they are targeted, especially guys that carry that type of cliche, that type of name recognition. But with Conor, it seems like there has been more than one instance where stuff like this has come up… [But] as long as there have been sports, there have been instances like this,” DC added.

However, Conor McGregor plans to appeal the decision of the Irish court, which made him pay $260,000 in damages. Also, it seems like they do have evidence because his fiancee, Dee Devlin, lashed out at the lawsuit’s plaintiff and revealed some information supporting McGregor’s plan to appeal.
Conor McGregor’s fiancee claims they have CCTV footage as evidence
Dee Devlin wasn’t having it when the court ruled the decision in favor of Nikita Hand. She’d take to Instagram and share a multitude of stories, refuting Hand’s innocence in this case, and also claimed that Conor McGregor possesses CCTV footage, indicating that they have evidence that could put the plaintiff in the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

“CCTV does not lie. I look forward to the day the world will see the footage of you on that night and the carry-on of you. Not a bother of you having the time of your life,” Conor McGregor’s fiancee wrote. “This is the real evidence, video footage no one knew was being taken at the moment which you miraculously don’t remember?… To me, it looks like everyone is trying to get away from you.”
Conor McGregor didn’t face criminal charges because of the lack of evidence, but could Dee Devlin’s claim about the ‘real evidence’ work in his favor during his appeal? Well, that remains to be seen, but let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
