Kurt Busch has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently. The 46-year-old was recently found guilty of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) in North Carolina, which resulted in him forfeiting his license and receiving a 60-day suspended sentence. However, the 46-year-old is hoping for a new beginning after a tumultuous few months, during which time the Nevada native has reflected on his actions and learned from his mistakes.

Having retired in 2022 after suffering from a concussion at Pocono Raceway, Busch has been spending time away from the fast lane, pursuing other interests. However, could the 2004 Cup Series winner make a sensational return to motorsports? His recent Instagram post certainly seems to be hinting at the possibility.

Kurt Busch has had quite a career, hasn’t he? Having spent almost two decades in the Cup Series, the Nevada native quickly became a fan favorite because of his racing prowess. The driver has competed for the likes of Stewart-Haas Racing, Chip Ganassi, and 23XI and also won the championship in his fourth full-time season at NASCAR’s highest level. Naturally, the prospect of having Kyle Busch’s older brother back in the stock car racing series’ premier competition is exciting, even though speculation about such a possibility may be premature.

In a recent Instagram post, Kurt Busch showed highlights from a day he spent watching a football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers with his rumored girlfriend. The 46-year-old wrote in the caption, “Took my “Missouri Girl” – a life long @chiefs fan, to see them take on the @panthers. Thanks to @_firstnationalbank and Greg Wilcox, damn good vibe. But seriously …too much football lately, let’s get it back to fast cars and racing! 🚗 🏁”

Whether Kurt Busch refers to participating or simply watching motorsports events is a matter of conjecture. However, won’t it be something to see the 2010 Coca-Cola 600 winner back on the racetrack? When he retired back in 2022, the racing driver said, “I know right now I can’t give what is required to compete at that level week-in and week-out.” If Busch does return, it will indicate that he has finally recovered from concussion-related issues that forced his retirement a few years ago.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Kurt Busch's return to racing be the comeback story NASCAR fans have been waiting for?

In a story uploaded on Instagram, Kurt Busch has paid tribute to Martin Truex Jr. and David Wilson for their illustrious careers. The veteran driver last competed in the Cup Series while driving a No. 45 Toyota for 23XI Racing and he recognized both the influential motorsport figures who are also affiliated with the Japanese manufacturer. Wilson recently received the Bill France Award for Excellence for his time as president of Toyota Racing Development while Truex Jr. closed the curtains after almost two decades in the Cup Series.

In the video, Kurt Busch is seen with rumored girlfriend Lyda Moore, and the couple is ‘air driving.’ The 46-year-old wrote, “Career Celebration @davidwilson & @martintruex_jr” while also making a joke by saying, “@ligerlou wants to race!” The veteran seems to be enjoying life outside the racetrack at the moment, prioritizing time with his rumored girlfriend.

Kurt Busch and Lyda Moore have been attending plenty of NFL games recently. The couple recently saw the Chicago Bears take on the Green Bay Packers, with the racing driver making his allegiance clear by wearing a Monsters of the Midway jersey. He wrote, “Took Lyda to Da Bears Game” in the caption and expressed gratitude to the team owners by saying, “Thanks to the McCasky Family […] Bear Down!” Even though the result didn’t end in Busch’s favor, it seemed to be an enjoyable outing for both of them.
