Now, the past season wasn’t what Elliott or his ardent fans expected. What started solid quickly became a disaster in March when the HMS driver fractured his left tibia in a snowboarding incident. This unfortunate accident got him sidelined, missing 6 races and precious playoff points.
Meanwhile, NASCAR also took a fall in Elliott’s absence. The TV viewership showed a steep decline of 12.2% in Las Vegas, 15.1% in Phoenix, 14.5% in Atlanta, 16.1% in Austin, 41.8% in Richmond, and 13.9% in Bristol compared to last year’s numbers. This again proved how much the fans love the #9 driver, highlighting his popularity among fans.
Despite the disastrous past season, missing the playoffs for the first time in his Cup Series career, Elliott has something for his ardent following – a special new livery for his 2024 campaign.

This will also mark the 11 consecutive seasons for NAPA serving as Elliott’s primary sponsor in his NASCAR campaigns since he won the Xfinity Series back in 2014 in his maiden season. One fan was ecstatic to see the new livery, hoping to see the driver return to his winning ways, “I’m in love with this. LFG champ!!! See you in March.” Whereas another user was thrilled to see the blue theme returning, “THEY FINALLY DID A BLUE PAINT SCHEME AGAIN.”
“Some metallic Napa yellow rims would look better than the black. But it’s a sweet-looking paint scheme,” wrote another fan in the comment section while another user credited the whole team for rolling out the new livery without overdoing it or complicating the whole design, “This is spectacular. Clear brand identity, a significant amount of the simplicity of the 1980s schemes but with key modern components. They did not overthink it, and totally deserve the praise as a result.”
