NASCAR is Calling FBI to Investigate the Bubba Wallace Noose Incident: Reports

Yesterday, someone put ‘a noose’ in NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace’s garage in the Talladega Superspeedway. The hate incident garnered widespread criticism online and many sports personalities came out in support of Bubba Wallace.

After that, NASCAR reported the incident in an official statement. Additionally, Bubba posted his thoughts on the hate incident in a Twitter post.

Fox NASCAR’s Bob Pockrass reveals in a recent tweet that NASCAR has contacted the FBI to investigate the Talladega incident.

He writes, “Additional news on the noose found in Bubba Wallace’s garage stall Sunday. Bubba Wallace did not see the noose. Talladega County Sheriff said NASCAR reported the incident to the FBI, which would handle any criminal investigation.”

Sporting community came out in support of Bubba Wallace

Many sporting personalities including LeBron James and seven-time Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson came out in support of Wallace on Twitter. After that, NASCAR’s spokesman Eric Nyquist posted a tweet supporting Bubba.

He wrote, “Our sport is full of wonderful people, fans & competitors. The anger and outrage is palpable. Our sport deserves the NASCAR we all want. One where everyone w a racer’s heart is welcome and excited to be at track, regardless of color, love or faith. We will win. #IStandWithBubba“

Yesterday, bad weather forced NASCAR to postpone the race to Monday. The NASCAR teams were welcomed by heavy rains and lightning in the surrounding area. And NASCAR decided to cancel the Cup Series race hours before the planned race start.

Talladega is one of the few high-speed tracks prone to accidents even in normal conditions. Last year, the speeds were over 200 Mph and rain would have made it even harder to control the car in such a fast track.

Additionally, the race will run today at 3:00 PM EST.
