Currently, the gymnastics scene is going through an off-season. There were incredible performances in the campaign, and many gymnasts showcased their top form. As it’s the time away from the sport, Jordan Chiles, like many of her peers, is looking out for things to enjoy and has found herself watching an NFL game at the SoFi stadium.

Born in Oregon, the gymnast relocated to California a long time ago, and before her NCAA 2024-25 season, she decided to venture into one of the most popular leagues in the world. However, while she had her interest up for the Sunday night football game, the community didn’t acknowledge the presence of a reputed gymnast in the way they should have done to any big NFL star.

Jordan Chiles puts her interest in the NFL

SNF always hosts big NFL games. But why is that? The logic is pretty simple! It’s a game night on Sunday, and a weekend is part of the week when many fans and celebrities take their time off from work, and as they need an entertainment source to enjoy, watching a heated NFL match between two big teams won’t be any less than an action movie.

Weekends are now very common for Jordan Chiles, as her sport is in the off-season, so there’s less training than the regular campaign. Furthermore, as she is an LA resident, she had to visit the SoFi stadium to watch the home team, the Los Angeles Rams, face off against the Philadelphia Eagles. In contention for this season’s Super Bowl, the Eagles are the favorites, so many teams have their eyes locked on the NFC East’s giants. 

Surely, it was a stadium-packed crowd in Inglewood, and among the celebrities, Chiles made her spotlight. The official X profile of the NFL acknowledged the presence of the Olympian, stating, “2x Olympian @ChilesJordan is in the house for SNF!” Furthermore, they also added two pictures that perfectly described the mood of the gymnast, as she was having a blast being a part of the audience on Sunday Night Football.

Since the 23-year-old was from LA, Chiles was in full support of the Rams. The gymnast also donned the NFL team’s jersey, as seen in the pictures posted by the league’s official social media handle. Her fit even had a Nike black skirt, and to showcase her full support for the LA team, she also got herself a foam sign. Both of the pictures simply represented that the gymnast was having the most fun out of the game, even if the Rams were brutally defeated by the Eagles.

Chiles had a wonderful time at the SoFi stadium, and even when her pictures got to her fans from social media, they were in awe of the gymnast. However, apart from the wholesome reactions, there were a ton of NFL fans who were clueless about the presence of the Olympian, as they were just not interested in giving any kind of admiration or attention to her.

Fans were less interested in the Olympian’s presence

Social media hate is something that many athletes and celebrities are prone to, and Jordan Chiles is also a victim of such demeaning comments. One fan stated, “What events I’ve never heard of her before.” Another fan had the same reaction, stating, “Who? She’s a random.”

While social media users are just trolling or asking a general question, something that is out of assumption, the major disrespect is not just about the difference in sports. Chiles, as a gymnast, has brought a ton of accolades for Team USA, and for whom does she do it? Obviously, her efforts benefit not only her own career but also her fans and the entire nation.

“I’m convinced they don’t show real Rams fans anymore these LA clowns are frauds. I feel bad for the true fans in St Louis they deserved better,” a hardcore NFL fan mentioned their dissatisfaction over the camera focus just being the celebrities and not the actual fans anymore. However, another fan identified Chiles for a controversial reason, stating, “Oh yeah the one who cried about her medals.”

Surely, after her medal controversy in Paris, Chiles did gain a ton of attention all over the world. However, her calling out the FIG and CAS’ decision to take away her bronze medal from the floor exercise finals is something not less than a protest that also had the backing of USA Gymnastics. Even though haters do remember her as the person complaining about her stripped accolades, it had a ton of meaning to the gymnast, which is something that she is still fighting for.

While there were negative opinions on the Olympian attending the NFL game, it was evident that she did have her fair share of fun watching the game. And staying on the positive side is always a path to mental peace.
