Someone needs to go check on Jason Whitlock. If this was 2023, all criticism towards Deion Sanders would still be understandable. But after giving the people what could arguably be marked as one of the best years in Colorado Buffs football, you still come and “hate” on his man, then there is something wrong with you. With an 8-win season (so far) and zero signs of stopping, Deion Sanders and this boy are in the race for the title of the Big 12 championship. Yeah, you can say that the Jayhawks pretty much cut off their playoff dream, but the Buffs were never a playoff team. Let’s be real, the moment they get paired against someone like OSU or Ducks, they are getting smoked. A championship game still checks out.
But today, we aren’t gonna discuss all that. We have to talk about Whitlock and his new wild claims. Back on his show, Whitlock mentioned, “Everything Colorado is doing is based on Deion getting his son in the Heisman race and drafted in the first round of the NFL….. The motivation isn’t about empowering or uplifting Shedeur Sanders. The motivation is pleasuring Deion’s ego.” Okay, what is wrong with this guy? Now that Deion Sanders is finally doing good and has managed to redeem himself, all of it goes out the window because he is “doing it for ego”? What?
Listen, we understand criticism. Everyone has the right to criticize, but at this point, this is just jealousy and hate. Shedeur Sanders has done wonders for the Buffs. Take that massive Hail Mary touchdown against Baylor. The entire pocket collapsed around this guy, yet he stayed calm and launched the 45-yard bomb at LaJohntay Wester.

This play alone managed to change the fate of the Buffs and they got the W in overtime. And if we look past that and check the Kansas State game, Shedeur had no one beside him. Coach Prime’s entire WR was done for with the injuries and still Shedeur managed to bring in 3 touchdowns and over 380+ yards.
Why wouldn’t Deion Sanders push for his son in the Heisman list and the NFL draft first pick? And with over 3400 yards, 30 touchdowns, and a QBR of around 78.3, Shedeur deserves a seat on the first-round pick or the Heisman race. Man, Whitlock is a real like Uncle Ruckus. This guy cannot handle the fact that Deion Sanders is changing Colorado football for the better. And out of all his wild takes from today, another one that stands out is “Deion Sanders is not a great coach”. You know what? let’s talk about it.

8 years. Colorado Football was nothing. And it took 8 years to change everything. The moment Deion Sanders took over the Buffs, people had their doubts. Paul Finebaum was the first one to point out before the 2024 season began that Deion Sanders was all “Hollywood” and the Buffs were “not a playoff team”. And for this man to go and say, “he’s (Deion) now one of the hottest coaches in the country.” Speaks volumes.
“He’s a character Fox Sports and ESPN are using to draw a television rating,” really Whitlock? That’s all you have to say for a man who has managed to give the University of Colorado Boulder a $100 profit? Ever heard of “The Flutie Effect”? When Boston College QB Doug Flutie managed to win the game against Miami with a historic 48-yard Hail Mary touchdown, it put Boston College on the map.
From that win alone, student application saw a record rise of 30%, and the “Flutie effect” was born. The same is happening in Boulder. For what Deion Sanders has managed to achieve this season, applications have gone up for the university. In 2024, Colorado recorded around 68,000 applications. The university is also in the process of extending around 51,000 offers as well.

All of this is going to give a profit of upwards of $100 million for the university. And if we look past this, the Buffs are going to the Bowl games. When was the last time something like this happened? The team is currently one of the best when it comes to rush offense and has arguably one of the most deserving Heisman candidates on the roster (Travis Hunter). While playoffs remain a dream, Colorado Buffs have risen as one of the best, and behind it all is one man: Deion Sanders.
