Undeniably, the Warriors are the biggest turnaround this season. We can probably call it the ‘version 3’ but one thing hasn’t changed, and it’s troubling the team inside out. It’s the turnovers. Tonight, taking on the LA Clippers, Stephen Curry & Co. rained down turnover after turnover, helping the LA Clippers defeat the top-seeded Dubs twice this season. Amid this situation, Steve Kerr responded to the team’s other growing concerns and offered a solution.
In the last season, the Warriors finished 8th on the list for most turnovers with an embarrassing 1174 TOs, averaging 14.3 TOs per game However, this season, even though they have found the 25th spot on the list, they still average 14.3 TOs per game. Truly, a shameful display. Tonight, it wasn’t any different, as they gave away 19 turnovers, two more than the Clippers. Above all, the team has yet another unsettling stat, as the worst free throw shooting at 69.7% per game.
Following the loss, the reporter addressed the FT issue to Steve Kerr in the presser. The 9x NBA Champ responded, saying, “Free throws have obviously hurt us but as coach, we don’t really focus on that and we focus on turnovers in the first half.” He pointed out the reason that cost the game for the Dubs amid their dream run in the season.

Kerr continued, “I didn’t feel like we really started playing until the second half. I thought we lost the game in the first half, wasting a lot of possessions and I give the Clippers a lot of credit. They forced turnovers. They are a great defensive team.” The Warriors’ greatest advantage this season is their deep roster. Even they couldn’t penetrate the Clippers’ defense, as they ended the first half with 11 points. Thanks to 13 turnovers in the first half. Nevertheless, Kerr still has an answer for the free throw issue.

Steve Kerr lays out a plan for the Dubs amid the loss
Even though Steve Kerr didn’t consider the FT% as a concern, it sure did impact the Warriors on Monday. The team missed 11 free throws and shot at 47.4%. Making those free throws would have definitely shifted the game in the Dubs’ favor by a large margin.
Speaking of it, Kerr said, “We entered the game dead last free throws. We also entered the game in 10 in twos, so they haven’t hurt us until tonight. We got to work on it obviously. Get our guys got to get in the gym, get in a rhythm, get their confidence from the line for sure.” It’s also important to note that the Warriors were considered a team that would move the muscle in the paint and has made a reasonable impact this season, scoring 48-odd points per game.

However, just like Kerr pointed out, the Dubs have to work on their FTs to avoid embarrassments like the Clippers’ loss. Next up, the team takes on the Hawks on Wednesday. So, the Warriors would badly need to win the game to float on top of the West table. Do you think the Warriors will turn around their flaws in the games to come? Let us know in the comments.
