There is no scarcity of passion when there is Anthony Edwards. Whether it’s on or off the floor, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ star guard never misses out to prove that he is a menace. While Julius Randle took care of the business on the floor on Sunday night, Ant-Man kept everyone engaged with his brutally honest confession following the game. Even though the Wolves won the game over Devin Booker’s brilliant effort, the team struggled throughout the game. Let’s find out what the rising superstar has to say about it.

The star shooting guard had two reasons behind the team’s struggling effort to spark a winning streak. The Phoenix Suns were always one step ahead of the Wolves, leading the game through all four quarters. Nevertheless, during the second half, the Wolves somehow found their footing tailed behind the Suns’ lead. And if not for Julius Randle’s buzzer-beating game-winner, the Wolves would have played yet another overtime game.

Anyway, speaking of the subpar effort in the first half, Anthony Edwards blamed lack of sleep. During the post-game press interaction in the locker room, he said, “Just got off the road… We got a 2:30 PM game. So, I think everybody was sleepy out there early in the game for real I’m not making an excuse I’m just saying like you know I think we was sleepy it was an early game so it took us a little minute to get out but I’m just happy we found it.” 

Usually, we find games played after 4 PM, but on Sunday night, the Wolves had an unusual schedule. Notably, the Minnesota side had a late game at Sacramento a day before the Sunday game. So, it’s safe to say that they had very little time to rest before the game. Moreover, the confession doesn’t end here. Edwards dropped yet another hammer. This time Coach Chris Finch may have to take a closer look at it.

Anthony Edwards blames himself for the team’s defensive flaw

Anthony Edwards is undoubtedly one of the best two-way guards in the league. While he is an unstoppable force on the offensive end, the 23-year-old is a lockdown defender on the other end. Well, it’s not just him but the entire Wolves‘ fold. To confirm yourself, take a look at the full-court defense show that Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jaden McDaniels pulled out on Jamal Murray in the 2024 playoffs.

However, tonight, the Wolves didn’t resemble any of it, as they struggled to guard the Valley team, especially Devin Booker. The shooting guard dropped jumpers after jumpers, recording a 44-point outing.

Speaking of tonight’s subpar defense, Edwards said, “We are defensive team, man. So, if we just focus in on defense it won’t be hard at all to find. We did that here and there today, but like if we do that throughout the game when we don’t got the juice on offense like just defense defense defense.”

Moreover, he also added, “The whole all of that is on me cuz I don’t talk to my teammates enough that we need to just focus on defense let our defense feel our offense so we do a bad job of let our offense.” So, this may be something that Coach Finch might have to take into consideration before he calls his boys for the next practice session.
