“Congratulations Ellie and the big and not the little.😊,” a fan commented. Ellie became the first professional sports mascot to have a float featured in the Macy’s parade. She along with the NY dancer groups who were dressed in their official jersey shook a leg to the songs as fans cheered on. The parade was attended by notable Liberty stars like Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Nyara Sabally. While the NY stars had a good time, all the attention was on Ellie, who somewhere felt as if she had outshone the stars.

For the unversed, the Macy’s parade is the second oldest Thanksgiving parade in the USA which started way back in 1924. This year, like others, there were a host of artists who performed at the event. Among the notable names were Jennifer Hudson, Kylie Minogue, and Billy Porter. Minogue donned a red and black jumpsuit and sang ‘Padam Padam,’ and ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head,’ among others.

Meanwhile, Hudson closed the parade by singing ‘Jingle Bells,’ ‘Let There Be Joy,’ and ‘The Gift of Love.’ Whereas Porter opened the Thanksgiving parade with ‘Ease on Down the Road.’ This was certainly a delight for all spectators. However, the main event revolved around the Liberty team mascot and netizens were happy that Ellie was getting the due spotlight.
