Was it not Ryan Day who made the call? He energized the Buckeyes fan base with powerful assertions prior to the Indiana match. And the Buckeyes did not disappoint. The Buckeyes dominated the field and demonstrated who controls the Big 10 with an overall 10-1. However, who is responsible for the Ohio State Buckeyes’ dominance? Just the head coach? It goes without saying that he has, but behind all of this was an unsung hero. Can you guess who it is? Wait a minute, the OSU quarterback will tell you everything.

Will Howard reveals the key to Buckeye’s tremendous success this year in a recent video featuring ZenGame talking about his own quest to become a Buckeye. He said, “They fly under the radar like crazy man. But those guys are I mean it’s coach Day and then it’s coach Mick I mean those guys those guys are running our program…when it’s the season obviously coach Day is the guy, but when it’s the offseason man like coach Mick is. He’s pretty much our head coach for most of the offseason. You know hours and you know whenever we have those workouts he’s running them and he’s he’s a big reason of why we have the culture that we have and I think coach true was a big, big reason.”

It only shows how much Mick McCall, OSU’s quarterback coach, has contributed to the program’s success, which is reasonable coming from a young coach with twelve years of expertise. “This guy has a huge impact on Buckeyes’ ‘we’re with them’ culture,” Will said, adding that the quarterback had this friendly coach from his sophomore year. Since that time, the quarterback has witnessed Ryan and Mick give their all for the squad. Still, plenty outside the program are unable to appreciate their contributions since they are only concerned with Saturday’s conclusion. It just shows how much the quarterback relies on or appreciates the coach’s contributions to him and his teammate.

If you are not aware, in order to prepare quarterbacks for competition at the collegiate level as well as possible professional careers, McCall’s coaching philosophy places a strong emphasis on a combination of conventional and contemporary offensive tactics. His job at Ohio State is greatly enhanced by his expertise in high-pressure scenarios, like as conference titles and bowl games. Prior to OSU, McCall was known for his creative play-calling and talent-development skills at Northwestern, where his offensive efforts consistently placed among the greatest in the Big 10.

Ryan Day extols Will Howard’s traits of leadership

OSU’s QB1  has fulfilled all of his obligations this season. Nearly 73 % of the passes that the Kansas State transfer is making are completed. With just five interceptions and 24 touchdowns, he has passed for 2,484 yards. Furthermore, he has made a name for himself as the OSU team’s leader. Prior to Saturday’s game against Indiana, Day discussed the significance of Howard to the Buckeyes’ 2024 success on College GameDay.

“Well, this game is won with players. You know, we can talk and do all these different things. They’ve got to go out on the field and play. And a big part of that is the leadership that he brings, the maturity, the ability for him to get us into the right play,” said Day. Moreover, he stated, “You know, when you have a 22-, 23-year-old guy that has as much experience as he has, he can get you into the right play. He can make adjustments in-game. And also just know that there are going to be momentum swings in a game. Get everybody on the same page.”

It just shows how good Will is in his fifth year at OSU and how much Day believes in him since he has played in huge games and made big plays. We’ll have to wait and see what the athlete shows his supporters in the future.
