Well, with each passing day, the rat race for the national championship is raging in its full form. Not only the teams and their coaches are a part of this dynamic gameplay, but even analysts are not shying from putting their favorite teams in the spotlight. One such instance happened on the November 26th episode of the ESPN College Football show, where analyst Rece Davis and Ryan McGee came together to discuss their favorite team that might have a chance to win the playoffs.

And in the discussion, Ryan McGee highlighted their top four teams, saying, “Honestly, I saw Texas on Saturday, and they are—they get off the bus looking like a team that is going to win a championship. But they have the potential to, at any moment, be amazing. But they were fine. I mean, we all agree Kentucky is a disappointing year, but they’re big and physical. And you know, ask Georgia, right? Ask Tennessee; ask a lot of teams. They’ll wear you down. But when I saw Texas, I think they have the potential on a given Saturday to be amazing. They weren’t amazing on Saturday; they were fine.” 

That’s a straight fact: the Texas Longhorns have time and again proved that they are not here to just mess around; the team is currently standing on a 10-1 record in the season. But there is one thing to notice: they also lost their only game against the Bulldogs, which is a strong team despite all the shortcomings, and they are in the playoff ranks too. So, does it mean Texas won because of an easy schedule, not an extraordinary performance?

Moreover, Ryan McGee also added to it, saying, “You know, I look at Oregon. The answer is, I don’t think there are but a couple that I look at and go, Okay, that team’s just better than everyone else. But it might just be one at this point.” For now, the Oregon Ducks are the only team that is undefeated in the season with an 11-0 record, which automatically makes them everyone’s favorite. However, there are other teams that were supposed to make a big impact in their last game but failed miserably.

All sizzle and no steak

Well, as said before, this season is all about surprises. The team that was expected to perform below average is making a strong impression in the game, whereas the team that was already established is trailing behind unranked teams in the game. One prime example of such a team is Alabama, which lost against the Oklahoma Sooners last week. This is one of the hardest things Bama fans and supporters ever have to go through. The team couldn’t even mark a double-digit score against the Sooners. Moreover, they lost against Vandy, the team that had not even come close to winning against Bama for 40 years.

Besides them, the Indiana Hoosiers also landed an embarrassing loss against Ohio State, breaking a 10-game winning record. But that was not the only thing Hoosiers broke; it also proved all the rumors around them for not being a strong team with their gameplay correct. How can we forget the Buffs this season? The team is showing gameplay that was not expected from them, but then losing against the Jayhawks, an unranked team in the tournament, doesn’t really gel with their high expectations of entering the playoffs. But now their fate totally depends on other teams’ performances. Let’s see if they can enter the playoffs or at least win a bowl game or not.
