Deion Sanders and Steve Sarkisian are clashing heads to secure Julian Lewis’ highly sought-after teammate, Zelus Hicks. Earlier this month, we got to know that the No. 1 ranked safety in the 2026 class per ESPN and Texas commit, got reclassified to the class of 2025. But could he change his mind about Texas and look toward Deion Sanders’s Colorado?
Well, in one of his latest Instagram posts, he shared an image of Travis Hunter in No. 12 and wrote, “Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Colorado!” But things don’t end here.
‘Rivals’ took to Instagram to draw a connection between the four-star safety from Carrollton and Sanders. “Coach Prime is up to something 👀🍿,” they mentioned, while the images posted alongside had more information.

Well, Julian Lewis already flipped and announced his commitment to Colorado. He was previously committed to USC but seems happy with his new decision. “Of course it was big for me, just coming in after Shedeur, just seeing what he’s done to Colorado and what he’s turned it into. It’s definitely a blessing, getting put in this position, coming after him and his dad. I couldn’t beat it,” Lewis told ESPN. But what really helped Colorado land ‘Ju Ju’? It was Sanders’s pitch.
Lewis revealed, “Coach Prime’s always said the best man’s going to play, and that’s really what I wanted — to be able to come in and compete, start as a freshman. I wouldn’t have much fun sitting on the bench, so I want to come in somewhere I can get a chance to play. So he’s going to let me compete for that. That was big for me.”
We wonder if ‘Coach Prime’ made a similar pitch to Zelus Hicks. While Hicks is yet to reveal his thoughts, it does seem like he is impressed by Colorado. But fans aren’t too sure going to Deion Sanders’s team would be a good idea for him. It looks like their loss against the Jayhawks overpowered some of their remarkable performance this season.

The Buffs are 8-3, which is much better in comparison to last season. At the same time, losing to the Kansas team, which is 5-6 so far, is surely not a good look for Sanders and his boys. Regardless, many fans don’t want to see Hicks in Boulder.
No! Fans are not happy with Deion Sanders and his team
Well, losing against the Jayhawks has surely put the Buffs’ playoff hopes at stake but cannot totally shatter them. There is still a chance that they make it to the playoffs but it looks like fans don’t even want to give them the benefit of the doubt.
- “Yeah, right flip from Texas to go to Colorado FOR WHAT?”
- “Downgrade from Texas to Colorado?”

Taking a program from 4-8 to 8-3 is not an easy task, and if one loss defines your whole caliber, then there are many teams in the season that have faced losses against unexpected opponents. But fans seem to have strong opinions when it comes to Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
- “He is not leaving Texas; Texas is 10x better than Colorado.”
- “If u wanna be on a winning team and play in the playoffs every yr your in college then go to Texas if your looking for a mediocre team to play for next 3 yrs then go with Colorado.”
If Zelus Hicks is not considering Deion Sanders and the team for a switch, then why would he take to his social media accounts and announce he received an offer from the Buffs? Something is really cooking, but fans can’t digest the fact. While we don’t know what decision the young man will make, he might get a lot of attention playing under Sanders. And that’s what one fan pointed out.

- “As a Longhorn fan, be realistic. He can definitely flip. The new age of college football is at hand—there isn’t much loyalty; it’s about finding the right fit, NIL deals, and marketing opportunities. Colorado is the hottest show in town, even after the loss. Deion knows this, which is why he’s treating the portal like free agency. Anything can happen. Plus, they’re teenagers—they can change their minds every 0.1 seconds. Lol.”
The Buffs were leading the Big 12 in number of sacks with 21 sacks after seven games, and joining the team will only increase Zelus’ potential. Plus, there were a couple of fans who thought that Julian Lewis and Zelus Hicks could be the next Shedeur-Travis duo. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
