Iga Swiatek’s 2024 season has been a rollercoaster, and a lot of that turbulence has revolved around her coaching team. After parting ways with Tomasz Wiktorowski, finding the right replacement wasn’t easy. It took time, effort, and perhaps a little soul-searching before she eventually teamed up with Wim Fissette. But while her coaching uncertainties seem to be a thing of the past, rumors about her partnership with Wiktorowski just won’t quit. The tennis world has been buzzing with speculation, but this time, Swiatek’s camp has clearly had enough.
In a shocking rumor that emerged and made rounds across the internet, it was claimed that Wiktorowski was to be banned from working with another player for at least a year. It was claimed that this provision was a part of his agreement and contract which he signed with Swiatek, per the well-known podcast, “The Talking Tennis.” However, they highlighted that the terms can be changed based on mutual agreement. But now, Swiatek’s team has come forward to nullify the claims, specifying that they hold no strong grounds.
In a statement to the Polish Newspaper Przeglad Sportowy, Swiatek’s PR manager Paula Wolecka clearly highlighted that these rumors were not true. “The details of the cooperation between the athlete and the coach are of course confidential, but I can firmly deny this false information,” she shared. Continuing further, she highlighted, “Tomasz Wiktorowski is not covered by the ban on competition and there are no restrictions on his future professional plans from his previous athlete. Both parties also wish each other the best.” With this, the discussions about the rumors seem to come to an end.
