The Australian star, known for his outspoken personality, wrote, “OUR SPORT IS COOKED,” after revelations about the two tennis champions’ positive drug tests surfaced.

Iga Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam champion, recently accepted a one-month suspension after testing positive for trimetazidine (TMZ), a banned heart medication. According to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), Swiatek’s positive test resulted from contamination of melatonin she was using for jet lag and sleeping issues. The ITIA determined her fault was minimal, describing it as “at the lowest end of the range for no significant fault or negligence.”

Swiatek addressed the situation in a heartfelt video, calling it “the worst experience of my life.” Speaking in Polish with English subtitles, the 23-year-old admitted the effect would stay with her forever.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner is also scrutiny after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed a tribunal’s decision of clearing him of fault. Sinner twice tested positive for an anabolic steroid in March, but the tribunal accepted his claim that the substance entered his body through a spray used by his physiotherapist.

WADA now seeks a two-year ban for the Italian star. A statement read, “It is WADA’s view that the finding of ‘no fault or negligence’ was not correct under the applicable rules.” Thus, while Iga Swiatek might have been cleared, Jannik Sinner is still under the radar. In response to a tweet asking for bold predictions for the 2025 tennis season, Kyrgios wrote, “That our world number 1’s won’t fail drug tests.” The comment arrives in the wake of recent doping controversies involving top-ranked players, including Iga Swiatek.

Kyrgios, on multiple occasions, has taken a dig at Jannik Sinner. After the ITIA decided to clear Jannik Sinner, the Aussie international did not seem quite happy with it and vented out his frustration on X (formerly Twitter).

“Ridiculous – whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance… you should be gone for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream…. Yeah nice,” he said on his social media. However, this is not the only time when he has said something like this. Most recently, he took to his Instagram story to post, “No contamination, just a normal cream used on an operated wrist. From an experienced physiotherapist who I am responsible for. Happy to be back and not cheating the system.” Kyrgios isn’t pulling any punches.
